Bách Linh Kỳ

Pick one monster per level, set them on your home rows and take on Tianwu. Pieces stay face down until they fight, so strike from hiding and use the elements.

How to play

  1. Pick a team of 5 from the monsters you own, one of each level from 1 to 5. Choose a map and a difficulty.
  2. Place them on your two bottom rows (or Auto-place). Tianwu only sees their levels, not who they are.
  3. Each turn one monster does one thing: move (moving onto an enemy is a melee attack), shoot, use its ability (once per game), or pass.
  4. The higher level wins. Bonuses: overcoming element +1, a feeding ally next to a defender +1, attacking a face-down piece +1, rivers, auras, partners. At equal level, melee (or shot) strength decides.
  5. Take every enemy piece to win. After 80 turns, the larger total level wins. Each win summons a new monster for your collection; so does every third loss.

The five elements

Metal Wood Water Fire Earth

Overcoming (+1 in a fight): Metal → Wood → Earth → Water → Fire → Metal.

Feeding (+1 when attacked, next to an ally whose element feeds yours): Metal → Water → Wood → Fire → Earth → Metal.

Terrain

  • Mountain: only flyers pass over it, and only climbers can stand on it.
  • River: walkers stop when they step in; swimmers move as on land.
  • Shrine: a piece standing on it cannot be hit by ranged attacks.
  • Sacred temple: on the opponent's half; your piece that steps on it gains a level (up to 6), once.

Sacred ground (a monster of the same element fights +1 on it)

  • Ore (Metal): shots from ore reach one cell further.
  • Forest (Wood): nothing in a forest can be hit by ranged attacks.
  • Marsh (Water): walkers stop when they step in.
  • Lava (Fire): only Fire can stand on it; flyers can only pass over.
  • Mound (Earth): a monster on a mound cannot be bound or swapped.

Other bonuses

  • Ambush: attacking a face-down piece +1.
  • Partners: attacking next to a partner from the same tale +1 (e.g. Chử Đồng Tử and Tiên Dung).
  • The eternal feud: when Sơn Tinh and Thủy Tinh fight, whoever strikes first +1.
